More Easter Pics and Kite Video

Piper had lots of fun on Easter. She found all of her Easter eggs and her basket. I think she was more excited about about hunting for eggs than she was about the stuff in her basket. Afterwards, Grandma picked her up for church. She's only been twice before, but she has the routine down, and knows exactly where to go and what to do. Grandma says she was really good.

Erick, Stella, and I met them at his parent's house for lunch. The kids played in the backyard in the sandbox, and Piper and Colin flew their kites. I was glad it was such a beautiful day again.

New Sandbox

Piper enjoyed the beautiful weather we have been having here these last few days. It's supposed to get colder this weekend though. Boo! Grandma bought a sandbox for her house and Piper had a great time digging and playing in it for several hours.

Sandbox Fun

My sister's post inspired me to finally get Piper a sandbox to play in. I ended up just getting a plastic pool and filling it up. It was a lot more economical than getting a regular sandbox. She loves it, and plays in it all the time. Now if I could just convince her to stop moving the sand out of the box and to stop throwing it, we would be great.

Sandbox

Piper and I went to a party on Saturday. There were tons of kids there and she basically deserted me the moment we arrived. One of my former students was kind enough to shadow her for a while when she was climbing up the play area ladder, and she had fun chasing the kids around. She didn't know what to think of the water guns. She loved the sandbox, and probably played in it for about an hour. I wasn't sure how she would react since she's going through a stage right now where she doesn't like to get dirt on her. I was happy to observe her practicing brushing her hands off instead of freaking out about the yucky stuff on her hands.

So I've decided we need to get a sandbox somehow on our patio for her to play in. At first I thought Erick could just build her one, but I think it would be easier to just fill a plastic pool up with sand and let her go at it.

Fun in the Mud

It was beautiful weather Saturday, but it had rained the day before and it was still wet when we had our cookout. I took all kinds of toys with me for Piper to play with: her sand toy, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, books, a ball, and more. Guess what she wanted to play with...er in? The mud puddles! She had a ton of fun playing with her sand toys in the puddles. I had to go back and get her play shoes so she wouldn't ruin her new ones. Her clothes were just cheapo (but still cute) Garanimal brand, so it wasn't a big deal if she got them messy. They'll wash.
I also have a new camera so it was nice for me to play around with it and I think I got some good shots. I'm still learning about using it in manual mode though, and I really want to take a photography class this summer. The only shot I played with in Photoshop was the last one. The rest are completely unedited. So, I cut her feet off in one of the pics, but oh well.

Playing on the Sandbar

Behind our apartments we have a decent sized woods and the river is a short hike away. We took Piper down there a few days ago and she had a blast playing on the sandbar. Apparently the sand didn't bother her as much as it did at the Children's Museum. I bought her some sand toys to use the next time we go down there, and I know she'll have fun digging and sifting in the mess.
