Bathtime

We receiced some new bath toys from a former student's family today. Piper had a fun time playing with them during her bath tonight. She enjoyed manipulating a pink octopus in particular. She spent probably 15 minutes putting it underwater and then holding it up so all the water would drain out. Over and over she would repeat this game and hold her other hand under the dripping water. Very cte indeed. I keep meaning to do a bubble bath with her, but we haven't got around to it yet. Perhaps tomorrow.

Thinking of my sister tonight...I love you and hope you are okay.

Happy Birthday Mom

Today was my mom's birthday. She would have been 56 today. I still miss her like crazy. It's hard to believe that she's been gone for almost ten years now. I wish she could see her grandchildren. She would have loved them so much.

Mom was the one who took care of all of us, and some of us fell apart after she died. I'm not a good replacement I guess. Despite my promise, I can't take care of Dad. She was the only one that could. I never see my brother either much anymore. I guess we all grow up and move on, but I wish we were closer. I really miss my sister. I know she had to move, and now she's stuck, but I wish she'd come home. (Are you reading this?)

So now I am a mom, and my daughter has finally figured out how to say "mama". I pray that I won't leave her behind before it's time. Circle of life right?

Here's a copy of my LO's first picture she drew by herself. Erick just laughed at me, but she and I had fun doing it anyway. And yes, she did it all herself. I think it's time to break out the finger paints...she'll probably just eat the paint though.

My Little Walker

Piper is really cruising around now. She is very mobile and walks all over the place on her own. She even tries to run sometimes and it's cute to see her take off at full speed and crash into the couch as she stops. She loves her push cart and goes all over the place with it inside and outside. She thinks she's such a big girl now!
