Piper enjoyed opening all of her presents. She loves her stick unicorn she got from Santa, as well as her Leapster Explorer and FurReal Dog.

IMA
The girls and I went to the Indianapolis Museum of Art to visit. It was too beautiful outside, so we toured some of the gardens rather than going inside for the exhibits. Piper loved the water features, and was surprised when the first fountain erupted. We also toured the Lily House and got to ride in an old style elevator with an iron gate. Out of everything we looked at... the gorgeous flowers and blooms, the ponds, the statues, Piper was most interested and fascinated by the plethora of storm drains that we walked over. They were of every shape and size, and some of them had engravings of fish on them. Go figure!

Incredible Pizza
They are always coming up with something new in terms of entertainment. Incredible Pizza was like a giant Chuck E. Cheese, but better. I was happy with how many little kid rides and activities they had available. Piper loved all of the rides and even went on a go-kart with grandma. They played putt putt and Colin played a few games.
The food wasn't bad, and since it was buffet style we ate, then played. then ate some more. :) Their theme was a 50's style, with a diner, a drive-in, and more areas to eat. We watched a movier in the "drive in" eating room starring Lucille Ball. Cheryl and I enjoyed the music too. If I lived closer I would probably join their Mommy and Me group that meets in the toddler area each week. Cheryl and I decided we would have to go back and just hang out all day next time.

Nature Collage
The other day we went for a walk and collected many different items from nature. Piper is really into examining everything outside whether it's a rock or a bug. We picked different wildflowers and collected small rocks. We even found a couple of different pinecones that had not been ruined from last fall. I got some leaves off of trees for her, and she picked up sticks and bark from the ground. She had a big bag of things to carry when we were finished.Afterwards I let her glue the collection on to a piece of cardboard. In reality, she was more excited about squeezing the glue out of the bottle than putting the things on the board. I helped a lot by pressing things down so they wouldn't fall off later. She did like sprinkling the birdseed on at the very end and would have done that forever had I let her continue.

Happy Easter
We had a good Easter this year. After hunting for eggs and checking out the basket we headed over to Erick's parents' house for lunch. Piper had fun playing with the dogs and with her cousins later on. They are getting so big, and I can't believe the twins are turning one next week.
I went a little overboard on Piper's Easter basket this year. I started shopping early and just kept adding things. It didn't cost a lot of money, and there were quite a few items that I had set back months ago. She didn't get a basket last year cause we thought she was too little, so it was fun to watch her reaction to all the goodies she got. No candy this time around, but she got fruit snacks and money in her eggs. These are the things she received in her basket at home:

Latest Masterpiece
Here is Piper's latest art creation. This was the first time we had attempted to work on the same piece for more than one day. This one took three different days and she used a variety of techniques. I totally copied this idea from the season finale of Jon & Kate Plus 8. In their show they did it all in one day, but I couldn't get the foil technique to work right so we adapted. You were supposed to place foil over sections already done to preserve each technique and layer. However I discovered I must be doing something wrong because everything I put the foil on just smeared and totally messed up the cool thing she had just done. So after the first day we abandoned the foil and just let it dry to keep the layers intact.
Some of the techniques we tried were: fingers, pastry brush, paint brush, sponge wand, hairbrush, crumpled foil, and a plastic scrubber that you wash dishes with usually. She painted with tempera on a cotton canvas. I added some of the paint to the canvas at first, but then she squeezed the rest on by herself and added the final layer with the hairbrush. I did pick the colors: red, green, purple, and black (only on the last layer), but they were the only choices we had actually. Next time maybe I'll let her choose.
She had a lot of fun painting the canvas, but she had more fun painting herself. She was a complete mess by the end of each day and turned the bath water all sorts of fun colors.
